Library/Santen Learning Commons
The DePaul Cristo Rey Library is housed in the Santen Learning Commons in Building A on the DPCR campus.
About our Library Program
The growing DPCR library collection currently features over 3,000 books and access to numerous online databases. Students, faculty, staff and other members of the DPCR community are welcome and encouraged to use this space and its resources at any time throughout the school day.
A primary goal of the library/school media program is to advance the school curriculum helping prepare DePaul Cristo Rey students for academic and professional success. The school media specialist collaborates with classroom teachers to co-teach research skills. These skills, including critical thinking, information mining and ethical use of information, can enhance student learning experiences across all subjects. The Learning Commons facility provides spaces and tools that allow the DPCR community to collaborate, work and learn in ways that are currently not feasible in a typical classroom.
It is DPCR’s goal to transform students into high school and college graduates, and we believe our students should learn to be responsible, independent consumers of information. The following library policies further this goal:
- Students are limited to checking out the number of items for which they can be responsible.
- If a student has habitually overdue books, that student may be limited to using resources only within the Learning Commons space.
- The library staff is more than happy to give advice on making book selections, however students are ultimately responsible for the books they select.
